Research Updates in Kidney and Urologic Health
Bladder Research Progress Review Group
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases
(NIDDK) Bladder Research Progress Review Group (Bladder-PRG) is modeled
after the highly successful National Cancer Institute Cancer Progress
Review Groups. The charge to the Bladder Research Progress Review Group
is to
- Identify and prioritize scientific research opportunities in the field.
- Evaluate supported research in the area.
- Develop a research action plan based on unmet research opportunities
and currently supported research grants.
- Prepare a written report describing analysis and recommendations for
consideration.
The Bladder-PRG process will involve two meetings. The first, planned
for winter/spring 2000–2001, will evaluate the breadth of research opportunities,
identify appropriate expert participants to become involved, and plan
the next meeting. The second meeting, planned for spring 2001, will bring
together subpanels of research area experts who will identify research
opportunities, evaluate the grant portfolio, define unmet needs, and prepare
a draft report. Following that meeting, the report will be completed and
presented to NIDDK.
