Preparing for a Clinical Research Career in Nephrology

This workshop, which targets renal fellows and young faculty members, will be held September 8–10, 2001. It is the second in an annual training series that focuses on building the skills needed for a successful clinical research career in nephrology. The series features state-of-the-science lectures, mentored training sessions in clinical research and clinical trial design, and a mock NIH study section. Using chronic kidney disease as an example, this workshop will hone participants' skills as they design clinical trials. The goal is to better train participants so they can more effectively compete for research funding. Attendees will be expected to participate in a journal club, design a clinical trial, and review clinical trial applications at a mock study section.
